James Perry Obituary

James M. Perry Sr., formerly of 603 N. Georgia, Pittsburg, passed away on May 12, 2014 following a long illness.
Jim was born August 11, 1930 in Huntington, WV, the son of Fredrick and Gertrude Perry.
He attended Marshall University and was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Jim was a US Marine serving in Korea at the landings at Inchon and Wousan and in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir. He was a proud Marine and a member of the "Chosin Few".
Jim and A. Kathleen (née Ellis) were married in Greeley, CO on July 18, 1953. They celebrated 59 years together before Kay's passing in 2012. Before and after retirement, they traveled the country together.
Jim worked as a construction superintendent for Earl Frazier Construction, Greeley, CO and Martin K. Eby Construction, Wichita, KS and as a Regional Manager for HBE Construction, St. Louis, MO. He built schools, hospitals, power plants, and other interesting projects across the country.
Jim is survived by sons James Jr. of Kansas City, John of Neosho, Phillip of Hepler, and daughter, Linda of Culpeper, VA., fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Jim was a member of the Pittsburg Coin Club and the Pittsburg American Legion Post. He was a Boy Scout and Sea Scout and a lifelong supporter of Scouting.
Interment will be at the Fort Scott National Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to www.bathnaylor.com. The family wishes to thank Dr. Rachel Stephens and the staff of Medicalodges Frontenac and Girard Medical Center of their care for both Jim and Kay.
