Joe Haymore Obituary

Mr. Joe Carlie Haymore, Sr., 93, of Mount Airy, passed away January 31, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Haymore was born in Surry County on June 21, 1922, to David Carlie and Lulu Mae Reeves Haymore. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. Mr. Haymore loved and devoted many hours of his retired years to his fellow comrades as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard, Mt. Airy Post 2019. Many also have great memories from the years he and his brother owned and ran Haymore's Texaco and from his years of service with the Boy Scouts of America. His greatest gift and love was his testimony of Jesus Christ. He has left a true Christian example to follow by the life he lived and through his service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His incredible remembrances of days past and his wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Peggy Cleo Brinkley Haymore; three sons and daughters-in-law, JC and Frankie Haymore of Mount Airy, Steve and Jennifer Haymore of Torrance, California, and Jerry and Monica Haymore of Pilot Mountain; eleven grandchildren and their spouses, Jonathon Haymore of Mount Airy, Gwen and Justin Bridegan of Florida, Richard and Sadie Haymore of Fuquay Varina, Brad and Stephanie Haymore of Mount Airy, Ryan Haymore of Mount Airy, Bonnie and David White of Texas, Michelle Kim of Massachusetts, and Justin, Austin, Carlie, and Tessa Haymore, all of Pilot Mountain; six great grandchildren, Reagan Bridegan, Eliza and Audrey White, Everett and Lillian Haymore, and Hudson Haymore; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Haymore was also preceded in death by his four sisters and two brothers. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Golf Course Road in Pilot Mountain with Bishop Randall Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memorial Gardens with full military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard, Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
