Jean I. McDaniel

AGE: 94 • Bridgewater

Jean I. McDaniel, 94, died September 18, 2012. Jean was born and grew up in Tokyo, Japan, and lived in Rahway briefly and in Plainfield for over 50 years before moving to Bridgewater in 1998. In her early years, Jean was employed as a greeting card artist and later worked at several private nursery schools as an early childhood teacher. She was a member of the Crescent Ave. Presbyterian Church in Plainfield. She enjoyed painting flowers and cooking jam to give to her family and friends. Jean loved Japan and Japanese things. She loved being an artist and always surrounded herself with beauty. Jean loved spending time with her family and friends and always treasured their visits. She will be sadly missed by all.

She is predeceased by her husband Lloyd and a son Keith. Surviving are her sons Bruce McDaniel and his wife Thurma and Scott McDaniel, a brother Charles Iglehart, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Arbor Glen at a time to be announced. The public will be invited. Arrangements by the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 No. Gaston Ave., Somerville. My sympathy to Jean's family at this sad time. I served on the Plainfield YWCA board with Jean in the late 80's, where she was a gentle and positive presence, a wonderful mentor to the younger women.
