Charles M. Harrison, 86, died December 30, 2013. Charlie was born in Anderson, South Carolina in 1927. He was a 1949 graduate of Marshall University and a 1952 graduate of West Virginia University College of Law. Charlie joined the Bell System in 1957. Over the years he worked with C&P Telephone, Western Electric, BellComm, AT&T Technologies, and AT&T. During his career he served in a variety of Bell System and AT&T law department positions with titles including "general attorney," tax attorney," "assistant general counsel," and "general counsel." Charlie moved to Bridgewater in 1971. In 1989, he retired from AT&T after thirty-three years of service and was elected to represent AT&T on the Board of Directors of the Greater Somerset County Chamber of Commerce. He is listed in the Marquis Publications Who's Who and Who's Who in American Law. Charlie enlisted in the US Army Air Force in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1955, he was commissioned as an officer and again honorably discharged in 1962. Charlie was a former Bridgewater Councilman, and served on the Bridgewater Republican Committee. He was a member and past President of the Somerville-Bridgewater Rotary Club and an active member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife Jean, daughters Suzanne E. Fanning and Dr. L. Jean Walker, a brother William and two grandsons, Christopher and Geoffrey Walker. He is predeceased by his brothers Emmitte and J. Robert.

Funeral services will be 9am Saturday at the Bridgewater United Methodist Church, 651 Country Club Road Bridgewater. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm Friday at the Bruce C VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 North Gaston Ave., Somerville.
