George P. Dempsey

George the senator (because he looked very diplomatic), was a frequent visitor when I worked at StocksBakery in Philadelphia. His presence would light up the room. He was a person that could never be forgotten. May he Rest In Peace.

I just heard of 'Mr. Dempsey's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. From the moment I first met Mr. Dempsey I had a very high level of respect for him. He was always very kind to my family and me.

Dear Doris and Family
We're truly saddened to hear about George (10/22). We have fond memories of you and Geoge's parents.
I used to see George at Aunt Charlotte's or Jerry's (VW) where we would chat for a while. He always had a big, engaging smile.The last time we saw him, he was using a cane and said, "Now I'm a Cannanite". What a great sense of humor!

Over the years I met George a few times at basketball related events. Perhaps many people are not aware that in March of 1947 George was considered the most outstanding high school basketball player in the State of New Jersey. George was the leading scorer in South Jersey that year and he established a one game scholastic scoring record at Camden Convention Hall. That record stood for many years. Dear Dempsey family, hearing about George today, brought back a flood of memories that I will always cherish, we both had to go through a tough bout of physical therapy after our surgeries, and it was his strength, perseverance, and friendship that saw me through it all. If he (as I suspect) was as kind and wise with everyone else, as he was with me, than the world is now less for it. Prayers for God's blessings, for you and yours.
