Charles Buck Obituary

Charles Eugene "Gene" Buck
1924-2020
Gene passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on December 16, 2020. Gene was born September 27, 1924, to Henry and Eleanor (Clayton) Buck in Clarkdale, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gene is survived by his wife, Joyce, son, Clayton Buck (Sue), daughter, Amanda Walker, step-son, Marc Sony (Melissa), grandchildren, John and Erin Buck, Riley, Caroline, and Cade Sony, and brother, Dr. Jack Buck (Bobbie).

Gene was an avid tennis player and spent many hours on the Courts in Memorial Park. He graduated from high school in Franklin, Louisiana, with an amateur ranking. Gene began his college days at Texas A&M, served during World War II with the 1166th Engineer Combat Group stationed in Amiya, Japan, and returned to complete his college education with an Architectural Engineering Degree from the University of Texas. He spent many years working with Miles Wortham & Associates and W. Paul Wottring & Associates. After retirement, Gene became an excellent Bridge player and met many good friends there and on the dance floors around Houston.

Gene will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Special thanks go to Bobbie Byrd who provided loving care to Gene during his long fight with Alzheimer's. A celebration of Gene's life will be planned for a later date during safer times. Donations in his memory may be made to Gideon's International, The Alzheimer's Association, or a charity of your choice.
