Charles Edward Hill, born on July 3, 1949, in Grady, Arkansas, passed away on October 20, 2025.
Charles’s life was marked by both challenges and change. Though his path was not always an easy one, he found peace later in life through faith and family. He was baptized at Elect Temple Church of God in Christ on August 12, 2007. Later on, through the encouragement of his son, he made the meaningful decision to rededicate his life to the Lord.
He will be remembered for his perseverance and the lessons his life imparted to those who knew him. In his later years, Charles found comfort in quiet moments—especially while fishing, a pastime that brought him reflection and calm. Before his health began to decline, he also loved to go walking, often finding peace and strength in the simple rhythm of being outdoors.
He is survived by his children, Curtis (Jaime) Combs, Jonthain Latting, Christopher Hill, Patricia Hill, and Marcel Walker; and his siblings, Willie (Kenneth) Reed, Reola (Gary) Box, Jesse (Susie) Hill, Lillie Hill, Tildon Hill, Beverly (Clarence) Davis, Marilyn (Fred) Allbritten, Johnny Hill, Troy Bush (Marilyn), Robert Hill, Mary Ann Lawson, Linda Sue, and Shirley; grand and great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his children, Charles Hill Jr., Nicklaus Latting, James Hill, and Wesley Hill; his parents, Moses Hill Sr. and Reola Hill; his grandparents, Nathan and Lula Bell Hill, and Joe and Rosie Stephen; as well as his siblings, Jonathan Hill, Moses Hill Jr., and Lulla Bell Salsbury.
A Family Hour will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Homegoing Celebration at 1:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas. The family invites all who knew Charles to join them in remembrance, reflection, and celebration of his life and the peace he found in the Lord.
