Mr. Dallas Clinton “D.C.” Swaim devoted and loving Daddy, Papa and Papa D.C., age 95, of Jonesville passed away Thursday evening, October 23, 2025 at the Woltz Hospice House in Dobson, N.C. As he entered the gates of Heaven he was greeted with “Well Done thou good and faithful servant”
D.C. was born April 13, 1930 in Yadkin County to the late Fred Waller Swaim and Ertle Armstrong Swaim. D.C. was a 1948 graduate of Jonesville High School, who faithfully served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He also served his community as a member of the Yadkin County Board of Education, served with the Yadkin County Commissioners, the Crossroads Behavioral Health Board, the Yadkin ARC, the Yadkin County Economic Development Council, and was a member of the Board of Trustees for Piedmont Baptist College and Grace Bible College; a devoted, faithful member of Swan Creek Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Jeanette Myers Swaim, his second wife Joan Casstevens Swaim, his son Rondal Swaim, his sisters Etta Pinnix and Ruth Mastin, two brothers, G. Ray Swaim and R. Wayne Swaim; step daughter, Sherri Smith, and step-grandson, Stuart Smith. He is survived by his daughter Deanna Swaim McKnight and son-in-law Mark McKnight; step-son, Jeff (Darlene) Casstevens; his grandchildren, Timothy (Kayla) McKnight, Kristen (Jimmy) Wagoner, Missy (Adam) Cook, Seth Smith, Miranda Gray; great-grandchildren, Carson and Caylee Wagoner, Macy and Bailey Gray; sister-in-law, Jonnie Groce; step-son-in-law, Walter Smith; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and special neighbors, Steve and Shirley Bell.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Little Mountain Road in Jonesville. His funeral service will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Swan Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Scott Bishop and Rev. Phillip Link. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family would like to express their gratitude to the 7th floor nurses and CNA’s of the Reynolds Tower of Baptist Hospital and the Staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.
