Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, P.A.Daniel Andrew Carroll Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on October 26, 2025. He was born on January 2, 1940, in Maryland.
Daniel was a loving husband to Catherine "Kitty" Sauer Carroll (Hellman), with whom he shared a life full of love and laughter. He was a proud father to his children, Debbie Birch and her husband Jim, Dave Carroll and his wife Tracy, and Paul Sauer and his wife Nina. As a grandfather to Terra, Paul Jr., Christopher, and Kyle, and a great-grandfather to seven beloved great-grandchildren, Daniel's legacy of love will live on through his family.
Dan was an avid boater whose passion for the water and dedication to his community left a lasting mark on all who knew him. His lifelong involvement in the Chesapeake boating community reflected both his leadership and his generous spirit.
Dan joined the Air Force in July of 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1962 as an E-4. He proudly served as Commodore of the Galloway Yacht Club in 1997 and as Commodore of the Key Yacht Club in 2000, 2006, and 2011, he was honored as the 10th King of the Chesapeake, a testament to his deep connection to the region's boating traditions. He also served as the Chesapeake Commodores Club First Mate in 2020 and was a founding member and treasurer of the Veteran's Yacht Club which supports veterans and active military personnel.
In addition to his boating achievements, Dan was a dedicated member of the Utz Twardowicz Foundation since it's inception in 1966. Through his commitment to the Foundation, he supported the Red Shield Boys Club and helped enrich the lives of countless young people.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Crescent Yacht Club, 1840 Cape May Road, Baltimore, MD 21221. A Chesapeake Commodores Club service will take place at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Veteran's Yacht Club, P.O. Box 8961, Baltimore, MD 21222-0961, which continues Dan's legacy of supporting veterans and active military personnel.
Dan will be remembered for his leadership, kindness, and enduring love of the Chesapeake Bay and its boating community. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
