Daniel Kimbrough Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 25, 2013.
Daniel Jackson "Jack" Kimbrough passed away on January 23, 2013. Jack left this world surrounded by his wife, sue; daughter, Terry and granddaughter, Andi. He was born on March 31, 1936 in Montgomery, Alabama. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Dan & Nettie Kimbrough; children, Gene Kimbrough, Leslie Kimbrough, Davey Stewart, Sherry Stewart Gill and a brother, Dale Kimbrough. He is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter, Terry Stringer and her husband John; son, Neal Stewart and his wife, Laura; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack was raised in Clute, moving to the area at the age of 10 years old and graduated from Brazosport High School in 1954 where he played football. He attended the University of Houston, graduating in 1958 with a Pharmacy Degree and worked as a Pharmacist in the local area until 2005. His father opened the very first pharmacy in Clute, in the local barber shop on Main Street and took over Kim's Pharmacy and later opened K&S Pharmacy after his father retired. At one time he was a member of the Jaycees and was a Clute City Councilman. Jack was a true outdoorsman. He loved everything having to do with nature. He loved animals, hunting, fishing, farming and gardening. He was also known for having all kinds of very unusual pets. He also leaves behind 3 special canine companions. Jack had many friends and lots of loved ones in his life. His sense of humor, his love and his talent of telling stories will be greatly missed. Jack and his family, truly, appreciates all of the thoughts and prayers.

You were more that just my Granny's boss, you were a friend. You let me hang out next to the door to your counter in the old store and on the stairs of the new answering my weird questions about "drug interactions" and what medicine did what. When I started college, I chose Pre-Pharmacy, because I wanted to have a job I loved too, like it seemed you did with yours. Unfortunately, I wasn't as smart as you on some things. "Fish or cut bait", you said. I took it to mean keep moving forward in life. Do Something. Don't just sit there. The stories you told were life lessons to me, (especially with what NOT to do out in the woods). The smile you gave was a good and honest one. You were a good man, Uncle Jack. Rest well. Know that you live on in my heart.

Jack Kimbrough was Special to me and to everyone who knew him. Some of my fondest, unforgetable memories involve Jack and our "adventures" in and around Clute, Texas, in the 1940's and 50's. That old '39 Buick saw many a "scrape', but , somehow we survived them all.
Jack was a Master of the Practical Joke. He took great delight in catching people "off guard" and pulling some kind of prank on them, especially me. There was never a dull moment around Jack Kimbrough. Jack loved life and made sure that those around him also had a good time.
Daniel Jackson Kimbrough was probably the smartest person I have ever known (and I have met several "intellectual giants" in my 77 years). Jack cared for people and went out of his way to provide help and support for anyone who needed it.
I will always cherish my memories of Jack Kimbrough. May God bless his Memory.
Because of his life the World is a Better Place.

Some people come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same. Mr. Kimbrough will always be a special part of my life as well as a part of Clute, Texas. His dedication to our family will always be remembered. Heaven has truly gained an angel.

Jack was a lot of good things rolled into one man. A lot of young & not so new moms would have been a lot worse off if not for him. God knows I don't know what George & I would have done a lot of times without him to help keep Quenton well. He truly was a God send. If we had more people like him the world would be a better place.
