I recently purchased two of Mr. Hutchins' bows. He was a master bowyer. I am sorry I was not fortunate enough to meet him, but his legacy will live on in my hands. Thank you. God be with your family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Darrell's passing. I was on faculty with him in GIT for many years in the old Instrumentation Program. I team taught a graduate course with Darrell and another faculty member and I shall use him as an example always for his approach to educating students in physical sciences. He was very dedicated to research. I was fortunate enough to work with him on a project involving particulates from combustion and saw first hand his rigorous and detailed approach from start to finish.
Let me express my condolences to the family. He will be missed by all of his former students and associates. I wish that you find peace and comfort during this time of loss.

Beloved Doris,
We are so sad to learn about the passing of Darrell. What a devoted wife you have been. Although we danced together in Little Rock many times, my favorite memory is our trip to San Diego and you talking about your anticipation dancing in that city.
I trust it brings you comfort reflecting on the treasure trove of memories of the many fun activities you two engaged in together.

Doris, it is with sadness that I have learned of Darrell's passing. I saw him in the waiting room at Honda World about a month ago, and we visited briefly. My prayers will be with you and your family as you adjust to this difficult transition.

My condolences to Doris and family.
Darrell was a peaceful and a peace loving man who always displayed the utmost politeness.
Darrell was interested in the most profound questions of social justice and sought to discuss these questions to all who were interested. He was a dear friend and wonderful square dance devisor. Love, Joseph

Doris,
I'm so sorry to hear about Darrell. He was a couple of years ahead of me in graduate school at the U of A. I always admired his friendly attitude and willingness to help others. He was a teaching assistant in the physical science class my late wife Paula (Sharrah) Rutledge took in the early 1960's. I looked forward to visiting with him when we attended the AOK Physics Teachers meetings. He will be missed. My prayers are with you.

Doris, Leticia and Jeremy -
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband, your father, your friend. Though it has been years since I have seen him, I have very fond memories of Uncle Darrell from Christmas gatherings at Boyd and Jessie's house and of seeing all the cousins together. Darrell had many accomplishments in his life, but the greatest is his family, his legacy, which resides in you three. I wish you strength and tight friendship bonds to help you carry the burden of loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

It is with great sorrow that we all say good bye to Darrell Hutchins. Darrell was so much more than a father-in-law to me. From the moment I met him, I felt we shared a kindred bond. Darrell was one of the most thoughtful, kind, and loving people in my life. He will be missed, but his memories will live on in all of us. I am so lucky to be married to his son, who he has passed on such wonderful traits and characteristics to.
My most sincere feelings of love and support go out to all that will miss him. Most importantly, I extend my truest wishes of support for Doris, Leticia and Jeremy as they navigate through this great loss.

The Darrell Hutchins I know was and will always be …
- the first to hold the door, and not just for you, but for anyone that may happen to follow in a near proximity
- one who listens to all comments, and welcomes discussion
- The guy in the crowd that takes notice in the lovely leaf from the tree- fallen, free
- A wonderful and loving father who loved his children and treated me like one of his own
- A man who loved science and respected all that it revealed to him
- A devoted husband who beamed when enjoying music and dance
Darrell, my life is better having been given the benefit of your acquaintance. I love you and will miss you.
My sympathy and respect for all who feel this loss.

Doris, Leticia, and Jeremy,
I am so sorry for the loss of your husband and father.
I wish there had been more opportunities for our families to spend time together. During the celebration of Jeremy and Andrea's marriage, it was obvious that Darrell was an intelligent and caring man who loved his family very much. He will be missed.
