My socializing with David began during our old Bell Helicopter days in Fort Worth during the mid-1970s. It was a fun and exciting time. His personality was larger than life, just like Texas.
The last time I saw David in person was in Stans in 1986 during his Pilatus days. Since then, we kept in touch regularly, and his correspondence was always wittier than mine despite me trying so hard to channel my inner Seinfeld.
Of all my family, friends, and acquaintances, I remember David as the one most full of life and mischief. He could've been a real life Tom Sawyer if he weren't so industrious.

Papa Dave, I remember when I went to Chile and you, my sister (brittany) and I would sit on the back porch eating the ice cream bars. Ah, those were the young days. I miss those days and I will Never forget them. I miss you so much and I am very upset I lost you. Losing you brought me a lot of pain espesially because I am so young(10). I can't stop thinking about you but, I know you were in a lot of pain and now that you're in heaven you will never ever be in pain again. I love you and will never forget you Papa Dave. You were and still are a big part of my life. Love you!

David:
Go-getter, achiever, bon vivant, jokester, linguistically gifted, rationalist, realist, patriot, tough hombre, salesman par excellence. He prided himself on being a self-made man.
He was also hugely proud of his ancestral heritage, from which he derived much entrepreneurial energy and conviction. David was an outgoing personality, yet tough-minded and able to manage his affairs quite well.
He loved life. I wish he didn't have to suffer so much at his life's end.

I will truly miss my long time friend, Dave. We use to have so much fun out in the back country of San Diego, riding dirt bikes, shooting and telling lies. He always made me laugh with his "down to earth" jokes and behavior. I so wanted to visit him and Carmen in Chile and go trout fishing. I'll miss you Dave. See you in the next life.

What an impressive man David was. From his command of languages to his great memory for friends everywhere, David always showed his talents without showing them off.
I know that you all know this, but we must all remember what a great sense of humor he had in both English and Spanish.

I've known you so long that I can't remember if it was this life or the one before where we met. We've had so many wonderful times together, celebrating the births of our children, anniversaries, weddings, Christmas's, New Years Eve's and so many more life remembering events. Your travels took you to the corners of the earth, and not once did you not forget to call me and let me know of your whereabouts and what new adventures you were about to experience. I will miss those calls, your on-line jokes, your personal interpretations of the world at large, your counsel and especially your friendship. When we celebrate, there will be one crystal glass and one seat left for you. Although the table will not be the same as if you were there, your spirit will be.

A father who learn from his mistakes like a true wise man would. A man who brought his family together in his twilight years, who's primary concern was that his family was together and supporting each other. You were never the best at showing love, but we all knew you loved us. I am so proud of the man and father you became and will continue to work to make you proud.
You will be sorrily missed, but never forgotten, because you in every eye of this family (and sadly enough a little in my nose), your impact in this world was greater than you will ever know.

A life filled with wonderful treasures. Dave loved his family and friends. A man of great personal character, our mother would be very proud of the life he lived. I never heard him complain why he had to suffer the way he did, he was stoic to the very end. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren with all his heart. It was hard for him to say the word "love", but he cared very deeply for them all. In his final days he started to use the word "Love" and he seemed at ease with saying it. His greatest wish was for his grandchildren to do well in life and live fully, grow to be strong and contribute to this life. I will miss my brother terribly and I will never forget the great gift of having him in my life, how lucky I was to have such a brother, I love him dearly. Bon Voyage Dave, you always loved to travel and be on the go!
