Yonkers - Eileen M. Buckley, a Yonkers native and White Plains resident, passed peacefully at home in the loving embrace of her family and friends on June 21, 2021. She was 97. Mrs. Buckley was born in Yonkers on May 13, 1924 to Francis and Helen (Hughes) Humphrey. She attended St. Mary's Elementary School and Sacred Heart High School. On June 19, 1948, she married Raymond J. Buckley at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Yonkers and they enjoyed nearly 65 wonderful years together. Mrs. Buckley was retired from Pace University, where she held what she often described as her "dream job" for many years as the Assistant to the Dean of Students on the White Plains Campus. She was well known for her concern for the students and was recognized for her dedication to their well-being, especially for international students transitioning from another country to the university. She loved being part of the students' campus experience and seized every opportunity to participate in the social aspects of college life. Mrs. Buckley was a long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers and was a member of the Father Solanus Casey Guild, which is dedicated to the cause for canonization of Blessed Solanus Casey, OFM Cap. She is survived by her son James G. Buckley, daughters Ellen Vetrano and Patricia Docherty, sons-in-law Robert F. Docherty and Kevin Dunn; grandchildren Amy Hunter (Thomas Hunter), Victoria Vetrano, Caitlin Spector (Michael Spector), Michael Vetrano and Robert J. Docherty (Shelby Ladenheim); great-grandson Ryan Hunter and great grand-daughters Eva Rae Hunter and Kayleigh Tuttle, as well as cousins Carol and Jerry Wiffler and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Faith Trowers, who provided her with loving care for many years up to her death, dear friend Lucy Alves, and Julienne Vil and Carmen Scott who have assisted with her care over several years. They will forever be part of our extended family. Her beloved husband Ray predeceased her in 2013; she was also predeceased by her three siblings, Edward Humphrey, Francis Humphrey and Jean Noonan. Visiting hours will be in the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday June 24th from 4 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Sacred Heart Church on Friday June 25th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Donations can be made in her memory to Calvary Hospice at Home
