On Monday, November 21, 2022, age 90, of Pitcairn and McDonald. She was the wife of 59 years to the late Frank E. “Hank” Gessinger; mother of Kathy Sepesy (Richard), Vicki Duran (Brian), and Linda Carnevali (Raymond); grandmother of Christopher Sepesy (Sarah), Jason Duran (Nicole), Rachel Glinski (Joseph), Lindsay Duran; and Eric Sepesy (Samantha); great-grandmother of Alex, Benjamin, and Caleb Sepesy, Ava, Makenna, and Briella Duran, Jack, Oliver, and Elliot Glinski, and Amelia and Julianna Sepesy; and sister of Louise Bach and Josephine DiRinaldo. Betty is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, Ludovico and Giuseppina (Mauro) Mento; and her siblings, Anna DeLuzio, Jenny Valauri, Russell Mento, Yolanda Cherullo, Sophie Natale, and Lena Anastasoff. Betty was a dearly loved friend of many, young and old, and had several lasting friendships for over 70 years.
Betty loved going to the casino and playing cards. She always volunteered as a poll worker on election day and was active with the Pitcairn Women’s Club, the Pitcairn Jubilee, and Daffodil Days. Betty was a huge Steelers fan. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, November 24, 2022 from 6 to 8 PM, on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, and again on Saturday, November 26, 2022 after 11 AM in WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Township, (412-563-2800). Her funeral service will take place Saturday 12 PM in Covenant-Community Presbyterian Church, 1630 Greentree Road, Scott Twp. Entombment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Twp.
Memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, www.stjude.org.
