Georgina N. Fontes

Georgina Nerey Fontes passed away August 5, 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona. Georgina was born July 22, 1954 in Nogales, Arizona to Guillermina Nerey Cardenas Fontes and Alvaro Diaz Fontes. She was the eldest of six children. She graduated from Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix and started a family. She was a strong, independent woman who raised her children as a single parent. She raised them with good morals and values in spite of the adversities of the neighborhood they lived in. Georgina was a hard worker but always made time to spend with her family. She always had her children involved in sports as this was a great love of hers. She truly enjoyed listening to music and dancing. She also loved horses as well as playing horseshoes. Although she had many hobbies and pastimes, her favorite thing was to spend time with her kids and grandkids. He heart was with her family the most. Georgina was a wonderful woman who will be dearly missed by all who love her. She is preceded in death by her parents Alvaro Diaz Fontes and Guillermina Nerey Cardenas Fontes. She is survived by her sons Damien (Crystal) Fontes, Mark (Nicole) Hammond and Elliott (Amanda) Swanson; her daughter Erica (Scott) Fine; her grandchildren Damien Fontes, Jr., Xavier Fontes, Jade Fontes, Dominic Fontes, Anthony Hammond, Marissa Hammond, Nicolas Hammond, Angelo Hammond, Marcos Hammond, Mekalyia Fine, Griffin Fine, Dylan Fine, Nereida Swanson and Sara Swanson; her sisters Magdalena Fontes, Barbara Carter and Rose Walton as well as her brothers Alvaro Fontes Jr. and David Fontes. Visitation will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 from 12-2pm with a Funeral Service at 2pm at Funeraria del Angel Greer Wilson Chapel 5921 W. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85033.
