Gilberto shared a profound bond with his wife, Rita Aileen Martinez, with whom he celebrated thirty-one years of companionship. Together, they built a nurturing home filled with warmth and joy. He was a devoted father to his children, Eric Alexander (Katherine Perry-Martinez) and Eve Maria (Alfredo Cano), who brought him immense pride. Gilberto was delighted to look forward to welcoming one grandchild.
He was the beloved son of Ernest Garcia and Mary Lou Pena, whose support and guidance shaped him into the man he became. Gilberto was surrounded by the love of his siblings, which included three brothers and two sisters, with whom he shared countless memories, adventures, and the joys of family life.
Gilberto was a hard working man and worked for HEB for over 28 years. He really loved his job and fellow employees. He is remembered for his vibrant spirit and his many passions. His love for WWE Wrestling filled him with excitement, especially during matches that allowed him to share his enthusiasm with loved ones. A fervent baseball fan, he often spent his time cheering for his favorite teams, embodying the true spirit of sportsmanship. Riding his motorcycle was another pursuit that brought him unparalleled joy, as the open road epitomized freedom and adventure. Additionally, Gilberto found comfort in country music, which served as the soundtrack to many cherished moments in his life.
He is survived by a legacy of love and connection that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Agapito Pena and Maria Luisa Guerrero, as well as his paternal grandparents, Juan and Josephina Rendon Garcia. Their memory, along with Gilberto's vibrant spirit, will forever be etched in the lives of his family and friends.
