Josephine Forester Obituary

JOSEPHINE PREYSZ FORESTER

Josephine Preysz Forester of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on November 30, 2011, in Wilmington, NC, at The Brightmore. Josie was born on September 24, 1921 in Elkins, WV. She earned an Associates Degree from Stephens College in Missouri and a BS from University of Wisconsin in Madison. She was an air traffic controller in Akron, OH, and a Professor of English at Larsen College in New Haven, CT.

Josie moved to Myrtle Beach in 1946, where she met and married her husband, Herbert Forester after a six-week romance that lasted 29 years until his death in 1975. She is survived by her sister and best friend, Billie Cunningham of Myrtle Beach; her four daughters, Patricia Forester Ellison and Quincy Preysz Forester, both of Charleston, SC, Dottie Jo Forester of Jackson Hole, WY, and Sandra Forester Marks of Wilmington, NC; Dr. Howard Marks, Morton Ellison, Mark Tanenbaum and John Romanosky, her son-in-laws, whom she considered sons and very special; and eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Josie enjoyed a full and wonderful last year thanks to her adored cat, Sassy, and the nurturing, caring staff from Home Instead Senior Care.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 11:00am on Monday, December 5, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, 1300 North Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, 1300 North Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC, 29577 or Tara Hall Home for Boys, 510 Tara Hall Road, Georgetown, SC, 29440.

Quincy, Sandy, Patricia and Dottie,
I am so sad to hear of Josie's passing. She was a wonderful woman, always so sweet to me when I would come over and spend the night. The thing I remember the most about her was her beautiful smile and her 'laughing' eyes. They always seemed to have a 'sparkle' to them when she was talking to someone. I am thinking of all of you and praying that God will comfort you in this great loss, as only HE can...Hugs and love, Tina (Eaton) Blackwell

Sandy and sisters, I was very saddened to hear of the passing of your mom. Though it has been years since we have seen each other, the loss of a mother is monumental and this feeling I am well aware. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
