Kenneth was born in Beechgrove, Indiana on July 30, 1949 and passed away in Del City, Oklahoma at the age of 68. He was a self-employed at Apel Construction as a Brick Mason, and also worked for Edmond Public Schools for 26 years as Head Custodian. Kenneth graduated from Greenwood high school, and went to Mallory Tech Trade School for an apprenticeship as a Brick Mason. Kenneth was a member of Acts 2 Methodist Church of Edmond, the 32nd Mason Lodge Degree, and was also an Eagle Scout.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Mary (Thompson) Apel, and his grandparents, Bulah and Newman Thompson, and Onner and Frank Apel.

Kenneth is survived by his brother, John Apel (Holliday, Ut), sister, Anita Bridges (Greenwood, In), daughters, Wendi and Doug Brown (Bethany, Ok), Tracy and Brett Hogan (Norman, Ok), son, David Apel (Lawton, Ok), step daughters, Melissa and Ricky McLaughlin (Edmond, Ok), and Amy McConnell (Oklahoma City, Ok), grandchildren, Austin Owen, Brittany VanWinkle and Will Lund, Ryan and Stephanie Owen, Mathew Hogan, Madison McLaughlin, Hadley Apel, Griffin McConnell, Nolan McLaughlin, Beckett McLaughlin, and great grandchildren, Willow, Dean, and soon to be baby Owen (Nov 2018).

He was loved and touched so many lives in the school system. He loved joking around and cutting up with family and friends. He had a love for Horse Showing in his early years, and will be missed by all.

We would like to say a big thanks of appreciation for the staff at Wellington Park Assisted Living and Frontier Hospice.

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 10th, from 4 to 7pm at Baggerley Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at Acts 2 United Methodist Church of Edmond at 11am, Friday, May 11th.
