L.C. Kennedy Obituary

Born 11-28-1930 Tupelo, Oklahoma and Died 01-01-2014 in Bakersfield, Ca.
Survived by wife Dorothy L Kennedy and children: Becky Rhodes,
Robert Kennedy, Jean Keller and Sarah Brown. Grandchildren Jennifer Brown, Robert Brown and Jackie Chevalier of Nevada, Candice Farnsworth of Arizona and 6 great-grandchildren.
Dad served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged at the time the Korean conflict was escalating but was able to avoid being recalled by the Army. Dad retired from Witco Chemical but went on to work for Kern County Parks and Recreation and retired from there as well. His hobbies included mini stock racing at Bakersfield
Speedway and Mesa Marin Raceway.All his life he enjoyed anything to do with flying and airplanes. After he returned from working in Tripoli, North Africa for Occidental he achieved his lifetime goal of getting his pilot's license. He so enjoyed RCA flying with the Bear Mountain Flyers. After retiring, his community activities included many DAV activities as well as that of a volunteer driver for the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System in transporting disabled Bakersfield Veterans to Veterans Hospitals.
Viewing will be Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 4:00pm-8:00pm and a graveside service on
Thursday, January 9, 2014 11:00am; all at Hillcrest Mortuary.
