Lowell Brown Obituary

Lowell Brown

Lowell "Gene" Brown, 76, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born, February 6, 1941 in East St Louis, Illinois, passed away on his 58th wedding anniversary, on November 7, 2017 with his family by his side.

Lowell, formerly known as Gene to friends and family, possessed a charismatic personality, dedicated persona and was devoted to his family. It was truly the biggest part of his life. He met the love of his life, Jeanette Canty, in the 5th grade and took her hand in marriage on November 7, 1959. To this union brought four children. Gene was known as a jack of all trades. Gene was the owner of Brown's Home Improvement. He built his first home at the age of 17 and loved engaging in wood work, carpentry and the construction of homes. He also enjoyed going on camping trips with his family. He loved the outdoors but he also was a huge animal lover and couldn't quite bring himself to hunt them, but just enjoy the time spent with his friends. Gene will always be remembered as the best husband and dad and having a good heart, literally. He was a fighter and cherished the 76 years he was blessed with on this earth. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his infant granddaughter, Courtney Lynn Isselhard; his parents, Lillard and Hilda (nee Bardmass) Carmen; and his siblings, Lillard Brown, Bill Brown, Charlotte Watts and Cecil Brown.

Surviving are his loving wife, Jeanette Brown; his children, Donna Isselhard, Gene (Jodi) Brown Jr., Sandra Weiss and Jodi Brown; his grandchildren, Danielle (Brian) Vahlkamp, Devin Isselhard, Brandy Richards, Lainey Brown, Colton Brown, Kennedy Brown, Nick Weiss, Makayla Weiss, Brandon Brown and Jenna Brown; his great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Logan, Makiya and Kaden; two sister-in-laws, Phyillis Brown and Jan Brown; and a number of dear nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

I could sit here for days and tell you stories of my dad of how great of a husband, father, brother, grandpa, papa, uncle, cousin and friend he was. But if you knew my dad you would already know this about him. Even all the waiters and waitresses at every restaurant we went to knew our family history.
There was not a day that went buy that he didn't tell his family how much they were loved. We didn't have much money but we were the richest kids around. Dad you may be gone but your love will be with us always and forever. Your grandkids are old enough to remember and the great grandkids will have plenty of stories to never forget. You are going to be missed every minute of the day and your heart is in each and every one of us forever. All I can say is that I chose my parents well. Someday I will see you again and until then, R.I.P.
Your youngest daughter, Jodi

What a Great guy. The Browns lived across the street on Bonita. Sure were great neighbor, sweet people. May God Bless the whole family, and I believe he has.

I have many fond memories of spending afternoons at the Brown's house when I was little (except for the bar of soap). Mr. Brown was a wonderful man and he will be missed. So sorry for your loss.

Kenneth and I were so blessed to have Gene as a friend, there were many moments of hearty laughter whenever he visited our hardware store. Talented and knowledgeable in anything building related! Our sympathy to his family,
sincerely Kenneth and Phyllis Haas from old Basic Hardware Center.

"My Dad" He was the best father I could have asked for. There wasn't a day that went past that I had to question the love from my parents. They were wonderful about showing their love for family and telling you how much they loved you. They were a wonderful example of what a family should be. There were firm rules of respect and boundaries and if you were close to crossing either one I remember the look I would get from my dad and that would be all it took for me and he didn't discriminate over age, there were times I seen that look well in my 30's and I'm not necessarily speaking with me. (lol) I will always love you DAD and will most definitely miss you every day. You are in my heart forever. Thank YOU for being my Dad.. Love You Forever Your Daughter Sandra..
XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
