Lydweine Rose Fletcher, 96

November 24, 1928 – October 13, 2025

Lydweine Rose Fletcher passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, in Sunrise, Florida, at the age of 96. Her long and meaningful life was marked by devotion to her family, dedication to her work, and a deep sense of care for those around her.

Born on November 24, 1928, in Lawrence Tavern, Jamaica West Indies, she began her education at Holy Family School and later pursued a career in nursing. Her early commitment to service and compassion would remain central throughout her life.

Lydweine eventually relocated to England, where she married Halric Fletcher. Together they built both a family and a livelihood. After several years, they returned to Jamaica where she worked alongside her husband in the grocery business. The family immigrated to Canada and then to America where she continued to work alongside her husband until their retirement. This was a partnership that reflected their shared values of hard work and mutual support.

She was a loving and caring mother to her children: Florence, Earl (Arlene), Ronald (Sonia), Winston (Denise), Donald, Sandra, Mark, and Rose (Leslie). Lydweine’s nurturing spirit extended across generations to her grandchildren: Earl Jr. (Angelina), Ronald Jr. (Sherry), Brandon, Calbert, Kevin, David, Jessica (Tommy), Angelique (Wayne), Donna (Marcus), Rose (Michael), Karen (Del), Kristina, and Krystallena, as well as several great grandchildren (too many to list).

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Halric Fletcher and sons Earl and Donald.

Throughout her life, Lydweine was known as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her warmth touched many lives across continents and generations. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

Visitation honoring Lydweine’s life and legacy will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at TM Ralph Funeral Homes, 371 NW 136th Avenue, Sunrise, Florida 33325 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The family will lead a prayer service 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Plantation, Florida on November 8,2025 at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Society to Prevent Blindness.
