Margaret Daugette Chapman was born July 22, 1929 in Vredenburg, Al. to Ouida Smith Daugette and Waldon Wheeler Daugette. She died October 31, 2025. She lived in Peterman, AL, until 1941 when the family moved to Mobile. She was a charter member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church where she served since the Church was organized. She began with teaching in Sunday School, then was elected Church Clerk while still a teenager.
She married Carl S. Chapman August 20, 1949, and December 23, 1951, he joined the Air Force serving four years. During that time two sons – Stanley Dale and Allen Joseph – were born to them. Upon returning to Mobile and the Church, she served in the Nursery and continued serving many age groups in Sunday School. In 1970 she began learning to sign, and continued interpreting for many years. She greatly enjoyed serving and participating in the 55+ ministry until the present time when she went to be with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Kendall Jay, her husband, Carl S. Chapman, parents, and brother, Billy Ray Daugette.
She leaves her sons Stan (Bridget) and Allen (Robyn), four grandchildren – Heather (Shane), Drew (Ashton), Laura, Aaron (Stellina), and 6 great grands, Sarah, Scarlett, Orson, Giuliana, Ezra, and Penelope.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM service on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
