Maria Zahn Obituary
Maria (Fischer) Zahn, 86, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014. She was the wife of the late Irving Zahn. Born in Poland, a daughter of Markus and Augusta (Peczenik) Fischer, she was a resident of Spring Valley, NY before retiring in Boynton Beach, FL and finally settling in North Providence, RI. Both she and Irving were Holocaust survivors. Shortly after the war they began making a life in America. She was very proud of being an American citizen, often singing "God Bless America" as loudly as she could. She was a very accomplished accountant and had worked for Bouton's in Spring Valley, NY for over 20 years before retiring. She was a classical pianist and loved children.
She is survived by her children, Markus Zahn of Cambridge, MA, Genie Baskir of Fort Worth, TX, and Mitchell Zahn of North Providence, RI. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, Laura Zahn, Daniel Zahn, Jeffrey Zahn, Amy Terrell, Emma Baskir, Alex Wagenhoffer-Zahn, and Scott Wagenhoffer-Zahn as well as 7 great-grandchildren, Sophia, Nicholas, and Juliana Zahn, Audrey Zahn, Elliot Richter Zahn, and Ryan and Logan Terrell.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 26th at 2PM in Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ. Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Shiva will be private. For information and condolences, www.SugarmanSinai.com.

I would like to send my condolences to the Zahn family. Maria was a strong and wonderful woman. She was an amazing friend to my family and was regarded as family. Rest in Peace Maria, I hope you are enjoying your reunion with the family you lost so long ago.
