Orest Zulinick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 19, 2019.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Orest Zulinick
on Friday, January 18, 2019 at the age of 87.

Orest was born and raised on the family farm near Willowbrook, SK. He attended Cherry
Hill school. Coming from a large family of 17 children, meant never being lonely or being without something to do, but it also meant finishing school early to contribute to the farm. As a young man, Orest worked in the instrumentation field living in Winnipeg, Regina and then moving to Saskatoon and eventually owning his own business. He frequented a restaurant called the Baldwin Café where he met the love of his life, Stella. They married in 1961 and settled in Saskatoon where together they raised their children. In 2001, Orest and Stella decided to moved to Calgary, AB.

Orest and Stella travelled to the family cabin at Katepwa Lake, SK since 1972. Once dad
retired – they lived at the cabin from every summer. Dad enjoyed sitting on the deck in the chair swing listening and watching the birds. He also loved to fish and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to fish. He would also play golf any chance he could get.

Orest had a tenacious spirit and truly lived life to the fullest. Even in his last days – everyone would comment on his contagious smile. He loved socializing with family and friends. His smile, kind heart and that certain twinkle in his eye drew many people to his personality and he made many friends.

We take comfort knowing Orest was welcomed into heaven by many loved ones that have already made their journey there.

Orest leaves to mourn his wife of 57 years, Stella; five children Charlene (Tony) Hardy (Jordan, Katrina and Brittany) of Airdrie, AB, Barbara (Greg) Heidt (Alyssa and Matthew) of Saskatoon, SK, Rodney (Michele) Zulinick (Joey) of Calgary, AB, Tammy Walker (Colton) of Calgary, AB and Mark (Kelly) Zulinick of Calgary, AB. Orest also leaves to mourn many brothers, sisters, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, cousins and cherished and close friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary for making Orest's last days comfortable and respectful.
