Not sure what to say?

I worked with Capt. Pat at the C&O for a few years. He was a great guy to work with. His sense of humor was always there and he spoke many times about his family and how he so proud of them. I'm sure his family was proud of him also. Calm seas and fair winds Capt. Pat.

Dear Michael and family,
I don't know if you remember me - it was Virginia Shorter back when we attended school together, but I was so sorry to read of your father's passing. I've often wondered where you were because you were such a kind, smart and quiet young man. I hope you're doing ok. My prayers are with you and your family.

In a league of their own...Captain Pat will be missed....contributed to the next generation of officers...he will continue in all of us. God Bless he and his family.

I worked with Cap'n Pat many times on the C&O Railway Co. tugboats at Newport News, VA. I enjoyed his many stories, and his good nature. A good person. May GOD Bless him.

_Tom Wallace, deckhand

I will always remember Pat's never ending wit and smile. In the military we have two families. The one at home and our military family. I served with him overseas. His character, conduct and respect for his family was above reproach. No man could have lead a better life. I will always think of Pat as my military brother. He is one of the finest shiphandler I have ever met. We trained, worked and laughed together and he will be missed.

My father was stationed with CW3 McClendon at Fort Eustis (3rd Port) many, many years ago. I can remember my father speaking of his friend on numerous occasions. My deepest sympathy to the entire McClendon family.

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. McClendon's passing. Please know you are in my prayers..

2011 3rd Port Reunion Banquet

Pat, we will miss your stories and smile at the 3rd Port Reunion. One of the last of the guys who started it 36 years ago! Rest in Peace.

The family is in our prayers as you all go through this time of grief.
