Penny Brockie - Kistner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 26, 2018.
Penny Brockie, of Colleyville, TX, passed away on September 26th in Grapevine, TX. She will always be remembered as a determined fighter, devoted wife, loving daughter, supportive mother, proud nana, and joyful friend.

She was born on May 16, 1953 in Joliet, IL to John Conroy and Marlene Karabinus. Penny attended Joliet West High School and Northern Illinois University where she graduated with a BS in Food Science. She was most-recently employed at TreeHouse foods as Platform Quality Manager.

Penny was a creative soul, always involved in one endeavor or another, and you could often find her at her work table making necklaces or earrings or learning a new technique. She was a "glass ceiling breaker," always working to ensure nothing and no one stood in the way of achieving her goals. She traveled the world soaking up its beauty and culture. Her grandchildren brought her so much joy and she made sure they knew how much they were cherished. Her daughter and husband were the absolute light and love of her life. Of all the ways you could describe Penny, the truest would be that she didn't waste one minute of her life and she never let her diagnosis define her.

Penny is survived in life by her husband, Kris Kistner, her daughter Katie Colvin, her step-daughters Alyssa (Noah) Hartford and Lauren (Paul) Kistner Day, her grandchildren Kayla and Tyler Colvin and Henry and Emma Hartford, her father, John (Carole) Conroy, her mother Marlene Karabinus, her sister Amy (Harlan) Chizen, her brother-in-law, Dave Kistner, her nephew Adam (Andria) Chizen, and her grandnephew Sterling Chizen.

She is preceded in death by Harriet Kistner and Robert Karabinus.

The memorial service will be held at 3 PM on October 8th at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to following in the Bluebonnet Family Lounge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PanCan at: https://www.pancan.org/ways-to-give/.

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, she is loved beyond words, and will be missed beyond measure.
