Richard Wootton Obituary
Kissimmee - Richard Albert Wootton passed away on April 28, 2021 at the VA hospital in Orlando, Florida. He was a long-time resident of Lake Worth and later retired to Kissimmee, FL.
His wife of 52 years and his daughter attended his bedside, holding his hands as he passed through the gates of heaven.
Richard is remembered as a quiet, thoughtful man who laughed often and loved his family dearly. He was an attentive, caring husband, a devoted father and a tender grandfather who made waffles for the grandkids on the weekend. Richard enjoyed spending his retired days sailing, kayaking with his son-in-law, watching sunsets from the Ft. Pierce Inlet with his wife, and attending all manner of musical and theater performances from his two grandchildren. It was a simple, peaceful life surrounded by those who adore him. He is gone, but he will be forever in our hearts and memories.
Born in Detroit, MI, Richard moved to West Palm Beach County with his wife, graduated college with a Bachelor's degree, and went to work in the Communications and Technology field. He spent his life working with computers and telecommunications systems. He retired from Solid Waste Authority of West Palm Beach then later moved to Kissimmee.
He leaves behind his wife, Donna; his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mark Mattson; his two grandchildren, Aine and Aidan; several nieces and nephews, his close friends, and sailing cronies.
He is preceded in death by his son, Joshua Wootton; his sister, Lynn McTaggart; and his parents, Elsie and Albert Wootton who have now welcomed him into the Kingdom of Our Lord.
Richard was an Army Veteran who served in Vietnam War in the artillery.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 15th at 10 am. Arrangements will be handled by Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida. 407-293-1361 or https://www.dignitymemorial.com/
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to St. Jude's Children Hospital in honor of Richard Wootton.
