Robert "Bob" Osterlund

Salem - On the 4th day of January, 2019, in the city of Salem Oregon, a man of great faith, and a child of God, Bob left for his heavenly home. Bob was born in Maxwell, Nebraska on November 11, 1929, to Lee and Minnie Osterlund.

He attended Elementary Schools in Hershey, Maxwell and Curtis, graduating from Maxwell High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Nebraska and a Master's Degree from Colorado State University. He continued his studies in higher Education at Oregon State University.

He was a veteran of the Korean War with four years active duty as an airman and sailor, and became a Mustang Officer in the U.S. Navy. He was a lifelong educator and served as a deputy Sheriff. He was an Eucharistic Minister, Scoutmaster and Campfire Do Dad. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed working with wood. He traveled to 49 States and 19 Countries.

Bob was a loving and dedicated son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, a son John, a daughter Rose, two granddaughters, Faith and Nicole, two sisters, Irene and Darlene, and a brother, Albion.

Bob's life was celebrated at 11:00am Monday, January 7, 2019 at Peace Lutheran Church (1525 Glen Creek Rd. NW) in Salem. Interment will be at a later date. Assisting is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
