Dear Rob and Family,
Jim and I are so saddened by the news of your Dad's passing. You know how much we enjoyed spending time with him at the Horseshoe and in our home. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. We will see him again in the heavenly hotel.
Love,

We met the Vires family in 1975 and served together until 1980 at Chanute Air Force Base. The instructor corps at the fire school was the best of Air Force fire fighters and Bob rose to the very top of that group. His calm demeanor and quick sense of humor made him a joy to work with. He was a true professional.
While attending a Fire Chief's conference in Kansas City, Bob and Karen visited us. We had a great time reminiscing the good times we had had - especially camping. Over the years, we've stayed in contact through email and Christmas cards.
We mourned the passing of Karen and now grieve for the loss of our friend Bob. We send deepest sympathy and prayers for comfort to Rob and his family.

May you RIP Bob, I will miss seeing you at the Horseshoe. I met Bob and Karen at the race track many years ago. They both loved the Horses. Bob was ALWAYS a pleasure to visit with. See you again on the flip side my friend.

The Final Salute
Brothers in Arms, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged Hand Salutes as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This Hand Salute is the last that we shall render to Robert L. (Bob) Vires, Sr. our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Bob. To Bob it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Vietnam War while serving in the U.S. Air Force. Bob, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 961 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Bob's family and loved ones.

I met Vires 3 years ago through Livy Sibley. He's the type of person you meet once and feel like you have known him for years. We both shared a love for westerns. Vires persona reminded me of John Wayne's so that was my nickname for him - which he secretly loved. I feel blessed to have known him.

We are so sad to hear about Mr. Robert's passing. He was such a pleasant person, with a positive outlook on life. We were honored to know him and call him friend. We will miss visiting with him, and seeing him outside walking Jack. We are praying for your family.
