Thelma Vincent Obituary

VINCENT
Thelma Marshall Vincent, age 93, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on November 19, 2018. She was born in Williamsville, Virginia on July 23, 1925 to Harry Lee and Mary Bess Marshall. She grew up in Highland County, Virginia and earned a business degree from Dunsmore Business College in Staunton, Virginia.
Thelma moved to Florida in the 1950's and worked as an accountant for a construction company. She became a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church which she attended for over sixty years. She met and married her husband at the church and served as a Deacon, an Elder and a Trustee of the church. Thelma was an active volunteer as a mother, a room mom, a PTA president, a Girl Scout Cookie Chairman and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a longtime member of the Riverside Chapter of the Eastern Star and a member of the Daughters of the Nile for 56 years. Thelma earned the distinction as the first female Vice President of Finance of Sysco Food Services and, when she retired, Thelma held the title of Chief Financial Officer. After retiring, Thelma divided her time between volunteering, traveling and being with family. She served on the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary Board several years, working on the Caring Chefs committee and was President of the Board. She traveled to Great Britain, Alaska, the Southwest and NYC to see the Christmas lights. And she took many cruises. She loved meeting new people when she traveled.
Thelma's husband, Daniel O. Vincent, Jr. and her brother, Clifton Marshall, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Betsy Faircloth (Gerald); her children, Mary Fletcher (Greg) and Heather Rosdol (David); grandchildren, Daniel Metrie (Stephanie); Jenna, Joseph and Carlee Fletcher; Samuel and Jakob Rosdol; and great grandson, Mason Metrie. She also leaves behind many other family members and loved ones. The family would like to say a special thank you for the care Thelma and the family received from the caregivers from JMAC for the last year of her life.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Riverside Presbyterian Church, 849 Park St, Jacksonville, FL 32204. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Riverside Presbyterian Church, (rpcjax.org).

Mrs. Vincent was such a wonderful gift and blessing to all of us who knew her. She was truly a lady of grace and elegance and with a mind as sharp as I have ever seen. Thank you for being a model of Christ like servitude and always thinking of others before your self. It was such an honor to know you.
