I am very surprised. Tom went to St. Pat's with me, and we played as youngsters around the neighborhood. Tom was always a quick wit and had an open heart for everyone around him. I am sorry for his family's loss. He will though, leave behind many kind and wonderful memories. I am indebted to Tom for his freindship and imagination which is still with me.

I worked with Tom at the Kokomo Tribune. He never failed to ask about my son, and jokingly referred to him as "Little Winston," because he said all babies look like Winston Churchill. I would often come to work and find a little trinket or toy on my desk that Tom thought I would like. He was so thoughtful, and always had a smile on his face. I missed him and prayed for him. Blessings to you,

To Tom's brothers, especially Pat, and to Mary Agnes, nieces and nephews,
I knew Tom as my English student at Kokomo HS way back when. Later, we worked closely when I was the Guidance Director and Tribune contact at Northwestern. I just loved Tom's sense of humor abd his dedication to everything he thought was important. I know he was especially in love with his nieces and nephews. He was a very special man. I missed his wit in the Tribune after his retirement. The Lord is in for some good times and some witty and silly Heavenly journalism. Take care of each other. I know this is quite a blow so close to the loss of brother Bob. The whole community is mourning the loss of Tom and his generous spirit.

I've known Tom since we met in Fort Wayne in 1983. He had a terrific love for his family, his friends and all those who knew him. He was a true "Carey" and came from a great family. My heart goes out to them. He we loved by all of them and was also loved by me, as he was a true, considered friend. He's gone on to a greater life and I know his spirit will shine down on all those that knew him and the ones that experience some generosity by his endeavors and organizations he supported through his lifetime. His memory will shine forever.

I met Tom when he was still running the paper in Tipton. He was a couple of years older than me, but we shared many similar experiences. He was a great guy.

Carey Family,
Tom and I worked together at the tribune and quickly became good friends. He was wonderful, always ready to help anyone. He was also a bright spot in my work day. We had so much fun joking around. I will miss him terribly, and will keep you all in my prayers.
