Wesley Handsel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 5, 2018.
Wesley Handsel was born October 9, 1929 in Round Rock, Texas. He was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on December 4, 2018.

He married Dorothy in 1947 and they lived in Austin, Texas where they started and raised their family. In 1981, they moved to Florence, Texas so they could enjoy the country life. In 2014, 14 years after Dorothy's death, Wesley moved to Buda, Texas to spend his final years closer to family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 13 brothers and sisters, his wife Dorothy, his two sons Ronnie Handsel and Jerry Handsel, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

He is survived by his daughter Susan Taylor and his son Wesley Handsel Jr., 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren.

He will truly be missed by his family and friends. He was a hard worker and would do anything for anyone who needed a little extra help. He was a man of God and taught everyone daily what kindness looked like. His love will continue to live through the many lives he touched.

The family will receive guests from 3:00-5:00 at Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown on Sunday, December 9, 2018. Funeral services will be held at Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Roy Smith and Buddy Johnson officiating. Burial services will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery in Austin at 1:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Handsel, Jr. (son), Michael Taylor (grandson), Kaden Ware (great grandson), Karsen Ware (great grandson), Anthony Handsel (great grandson), and Tandy Reed (lifelong friend).
