William Hall Obituary
William (Bill) Hall went home to be with the Lord in the early morning of August 25 at Spring Arbor Assisted Living. He was born in Burlington, N.C. on July 12, 1941 to Blanche Lucille Blackmon Hall and Lynn Avery Hall, both of whom preceded him in death.
He attended high school in Burlington and then worked at Western Electric before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1963. While in the Air Force, he traveled to Italy and learned Russian. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1967 and returned to Western Electric, then Abner Sales, then back to Western Electric as it became AT&T and Lucent Technologies. He completed his education while working, earning a bachelor's degree from Guilford College and a master's degree from Purdue University. He retired from Lucent in 1998 after 33 years, and then taught computer science at GTCC for several years. He was a member of Life Community Church and enjoyed reading, music, sports, and spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by his brother, Keith M. Hall of Burlington, two sons David Hall (Kate) of Waxhaw and Brian Hall (Amy) of Oak Ridge and his five loving grandchildren, Lilly, Aiden, Jordan, Thomas, and Katie.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Jake Thornhill. Interment with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made in Bill's memory to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
