Robert 'Bob' Hewes Naples, FL
Robert Wallace Hewes, 73, went to meet his Lord and Savior on January 28, 2015 after a brief and courageous battle with heart disease. He was born on June 12, 1941 in Min neapolis, MN. Bob was a committed and ambitious, gentle loving man. He was young at heart, enjoyed traveling, photography and had an amazing, and sometimes quirky, sense of humor. He was a fill-in goalie for the Minneapolis Millers and the Minneapolis Bruins in the Minor League Farm System. He also coached youth sports including baseball, hockey, and soccer.
As a young adult, Bob served honorably with the U.S. Navy. While living in Minnesota, he was a partner in the restaurant design and equipment business. He then moved to Naples in 1989. Bob joined Downing-Frye Realty, Inc. on August 5, 1992. Over the years, he won numerous company awards. Since 2009, Bob has been one of the trainers for DowningFrye agents. His expertise was focused on technology. Since 1992 Bob was an active member of the Naples Area Board of Realtors (NABOR). He served on many committees at NABOR and was inducted into the Florida Association of Realtors Honor Society and NABOR Honor Society in 1992. His numerous accomplishments include NABOR Educator of the Year in 1995, Realtor of the Year in 1997, President's Award Recipient in 1999 and REALTOR Committee Contribution Award in 1999 and 2011. He received the Member Spotlight Award in 1999 and 2002 and was awarded the Task Force Contribution Award in 2009 and 2013. He has been a Director at NABOR since 2010. He received the Committee Member Spotlight in 2010 and was inducted into the NABOR Hall of Fame in 2013.
Bob is survived by his wife, Diane Hewes; daughter, NiKi (Kurt) Frideres; son, Tom Hewes; stepdaughters, Michele Jasinski and Jessica Bartuccio; his grandchildren, Krista (Adam) Ulibarri, Trisha Hoffman, Ashley Hoffman, Laney Hewes, Dalton Creach, Shelby Creach, Mason Wilson; and greatgrandsons, Anthony Pacheco and Karter Ulibarri.
He was predeceased by his father, Walter Boyko; mother, Marjorie Palmer; and stepfather, Leonard Hewes.
Above all, Bob Hewes was truly a man of character. His light shone brightly.

While I have never met Robert Hewes, as one of the new zillions of REALTORS flooding the market, how I wish I could have shadowed him to learn the ropes. They say, when a person leaves this life, they go on to a new beginning without sickness. Mr. Hewes, promise us one thing, every once in awhile check up on us. Until then, rest in peace, your work was not in vain.

Let me add my voice to these sincere tributes to a unique, kin, and funny man, and my deepest condolences to Bob's loved ones. An NAR or MLS expo won't feel right anymore without seeing Bob; he always made it a point to find me in my booth to shoot the bull, and to bust my chops a little bit; it always put a smile on my face to talk to him. I will always remember him with tremendous fondness. I once put his image on one of our smart-cards just to razz him; I am attaching it here.

Bob was always helpful to anyone in the company with any question or problem. That was much appreciated by many agents. Quite memorable was his unique way of looking you in the eye and delivering a zinger, making you stop and wonder, "Is he serious or just messing with me?" Generally it was the latter. RIP, Bob.

Bob is one of the nicest men I have ever met. I truly enjoyed the lunches we had on the road as my dear customers as he shared his wisdom and long talks with me. I am very saddened to hear of your loss and pass my sincere condolences to the Hewes family during this difficult time. I will dearly miss his call but God has called upon another Angel to watch over us. God Bless to all.
