David Dunlap Greer, Sr., 85, of Cornersville, Mississippi, passed away on August 9, 2025.

David was born on January 20, 1940, in Union County, Mississippi, to Linsyl D. Greer and Reavis Goode Greer. David graduated from Macedonia High School and Mississippi State University.

Over the course of his life, David worked as a teacher, a truck owner and operator, and later ran his own business, Greer and Greer, with his son David Jr.

On October 27, 1962, David married Betty Hollingsworth, and together they raised two children. He enjoyed raising watermelons, riding his motorcycle, and time with his many dogs: most recently Dottie Mae who he continued to send treats to from the nursing home. David will be remembered for his unique personality, dry sense of humor and love for reading and all kinds of animals.

He was a member of Cornersville Baptist Church.

David is survived by his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Betty; his children, Liesa Harte of Portugal and David Greer Jr. (Amy) of Etta, Mississippi; nine grandchildren, Lilah Ward Shepherd, Julia Blond, Mireille Blond, Seven Blond, Nathan Blond, Lewis Blond, David Greer (Stephanie), Mary Greer, Hannah Greer; his sister, Molly Byers (William); his brother, Jackie Greer (Jean); his sister-in-law, Marvelyn Greer of Oxford, Mississippi; his sister-in-law Billie Margaret Benefield; a special nephew, David Hollingsworth (Teresa) and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Linsyl and Reavis Greer, and his brothers, James Norris Greer and Lynn Greer.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on August 12, 2025 at United Funeral Services, in New Albany, MS with visitation beginning at 12pm. Interment will follow at Cornersville Cemetery. [city, state].

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org or to the Church or charity of donor's choice.
