NEWBERRY — Funeral services for Mr. Jeffery "Rico" Mayers will be conducted on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Mayers passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Born in Little Mountain, South Carolina, he was the son of Imogene "Emma" Mayers and the late Claude B. Mayers. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as an Usher, a Trustee and a member of the Sons of Faith Choir. He was also a member of Brothers United Association and Old School Riders. Mr. Mayers was employed with Scott Timber, Inc. and a graduate of Mid-Carolina High School. He loved to fish and cook and was an avid Clemson Tigers fan.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Ruff Mayers; mother, Imogene Mayers; daughter, Alisha Travis; siblings, Claudia Mayers of Little Mountain, SC; Calvin O. Mayers of Newberry, SC; Angela J. Mayers, Patricia A. Mayers and Jennifer G. Mayers all of Little Mountain, SC; Claude Wheeler (Louvenia) of Pickens, SC; Elaine Dorley and Henry Dorley of Prosperity, SC; Judy Bookman (George) of Little Mountain, SC; Christopher Curry of Chapin, SC; nine aunts, fourteen uncles, grandson, Rashad Chaney; great granddaughter, Samara Chaney; nighteen nieces, six nephews including a devoted nephew, Cecil "CJ" Hentz, Jr., six great-nieces, six great-nephews, five sisters-in-law, nine brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.
