James Pevec Obituary

James E. Pevec, age 78, of Euclid for more than 50 years, died Feb. 22, 2011, at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland.
He was born Feb. 25, 1932, in Euclid.
James was a sharpshooter, radio mechanic in Asia and fought wild fires in San Bernadino, Calif. for the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and personally met General Doolittle.
Mr. Pevec was appointed by President Eisenhower to serve in the State Department at the end of his tour in the Air Force.
He was a member of American Legion Post 888. He liked to travel with his wife, Marie, to Las Vegas.
Mr. Pevec was a postal clerk for the Main Post Office in downtown Cleveland and retired from the Noble Branch in 1987, after working for more than 30 years.
Survivors are his daughter, Therese M. Pevec; sons, James J. and Robert A. Pevec; dearest granddaughter, Sari, whom he raised like his own daughter; granddaughter, Lauren; and sister, Jennie Pozun. He also leaves his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Margaret Balazs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (nee Balazs) in 2008; his son, Ronald S.; and brothers, John, Stanley, and Max.
Private burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Arrangements are by Brickman Bros. Funeral Home in Willoughby.
