Kenneth Foucher Obituary

Kenneth L. Foucher, 57, of Thompson, died of medical problems Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Tri-Point Medical Center in Concord Township.
He was born May 31, 1956, in Cleveland to Frances and Bernard Foucher.
Ken was the owner and operator of North Coast Door, an industrial and residential garage door company he founded decades ago, and which he grew to serve many clients throughout northern Ohio. He ceased operation of the company in 2004, after a motorcycle crash left him paralyzed. His many skills and talents placed him, perhaps by definition, in the category of a handyman. By way of tenacity and dedication, however, he placed himself at the helm of a company he formed from the ground-up. He was a well-rounded individual in all things mechanical and technical, with a keen eye for the small details and a deep appreciation for hard work.
As a lifelong outdoorsman, he spent many a day and evening hunting and fishing. In more recent years, he was more apt to drop a line at the sizable pond he built in the backyard of his home in Thompson. His family and close friends will remember him most for his quick wit and everlasting sense of humor, which he nurtured with renewed zeal as he found himself confined to a wheelchair in recent years. He enjoyed computers, model trains, trips to casinos and playing poker with his friends and family. More often than not, he had the winning hand.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristina (Dusty) Shepard of San Diego, Calif.; sons, Shawn (Amy) Foucher of North Ridgeville, Kenneth Foucher of Thompson, Lawrence Foucher of Perry and Joshua (Jessica) Foucher of Mentor-on-the-Lake; grandchildren, Lilah, Nicholas and Charlotte; niece, Stephanie Foucher of Mentor: brother, Ronald (Holly) Foucher of Madison; former wife and good friend Shirley Foucher of Perry; and father, Bernard.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Fran; stepfather, Ray Clowesley; brother, Larry; and sister, Cindy.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Madison Memorial Cemetery in Madison.
Arrangements are being handled by The Behm Family Funeral Home in Madison.

With saddened heart I write this. I have been wondering about Kenny for quite some time and just did a search for him, only to hear the sad news. Kenny came in and out of my life several times over the years as I knew many in the family, and there was always a special place in my heart for him. He was fun, funny and had such a love for life. He was a very hard worker and accomplished so much before the accident. But he suffered so much in the last few years. Now he is free. I will always remember his smile and that laugh of his, it was infectious. He really did love his family and left a legacy to be proud of. I am very sorry for your loss.

My heart hurts for all of you. Richie and I are so sorry we couldn't be at the service due to being in Michigan and the weather. I understand Josh did a wonderful job. I hadn't seen him much in recent years, but in my childhood, he was always around. He was one of my Dad's best friends for more years than I can probably remember, regardless of how much time would pass, as it does when people grow and have their own families. It is funny when you stop and think of all the people in your life that leave such an impression on your life, and as a little girl, he left a huge impression on mine. He always was family in my eyes. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
