PAUL MOSHER Obituary

Paul Ray Mosher died peacefully at Coquina Center in Ormond Beach, FL on July 1, 2010. He was 93. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Irene Pabo Mosher. Paul was born in Dillon, MT, the son of Esek Ray Mosher and Eleanor Marie {Schmidt} Mosher. He was the father of Anne Dalton (St Cloud, MN), Grace Swanson (Eugene, OR), Frederick Ray Mosher (Port Orange, FL), Lucille Miller (Doylestown, PA), and Mary Mosher (Nanjemoy, MD). He had 11 grandchildren: Lloyd Dalton, Thomas Dalton, Joseph Dalton, Mark Swanson, Carl Swanson, Todd Swanson, Eleanor {Mosher} Gillispie, Jennifer {Mosher} Kimbrough, Suzanne {Miller} Kenney, Daniel Miller, and Irene Posey. He also had ten great-grandchildren: Kaele Culver, June Dalton, Rowan Swanson, Sienna Swanson, Alexa Swanson, Henry Gillispie, Grayson Gillispie, Micah Kenney, Elizabeth Miller, and Christine Miller. He graduated from the College of the City of New York and Columbia University in Chemical Engineering. During his career he received 10 U.S. patents. While working for the U.S. Navy in Indian Head, MD he was awarded a Presidential citation for his torpedo work. Paul lived in many locations: Chapel Hill, NC; Cambridge, MA; New York, NY; Richardson Park, DE; Indian Head MD; Ocracoke Island, NC; Liberty, MO; Eugene, OR; and finally Ormond Beach, FL. Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling and loved to visit historic sites that had guns, canons, and forts. While he was in his 80's, he even published a book Pieces of Eight and Ocracoke and learned to play the saxophone. He was a member of NARFE, the Masonic Lodge, and the American Chemical Society. While living on Ocracoke Island, NC, he volunteered for the Ambulance Squad whereas in Liberty, MO, he volunteered in the Dietary and Pharmacy sections of Liberty Hospital. There will be a Memorial service at United Methodist Church, Ocracoke, NC at 11 a.m. on October 23, 2010.
