Raymond Felker Obituary

Raymond C. "John" Felker, age 57, Joplin, died Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at 12:35 p.m. in a local hospital after a sudden illness. John was born November 1, 1947, in Joplin, son of the late Albert H. Felker and Bessie J. Stalnaker Felker. He attended Joplin Schools, and went to work in the auto salvage business at an early age. He has been owner/operator of 66 Truck and Foreign Auto Salvage for nearly 30 years. He was an avid "car guy", and loved everything from racing to restoring cars. He had been involved with racing most of his life. He raced at several tracks throughout the four states. He then supported his sons throughout their racing careers, and most recently he was devoting his time to his grandsons' racing. Ray has held several titles throughout his career, including the 1979 Points Champion at the Springfield Fairgrounds. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death b ya brother, Douglas "Corky" Felker. Survivors include his wife, Linda Sue (Brock) Felker, whom he married June 4, 1966, in Duenweg sons, Danny Wayne Felker of Carl Junction, Denny Ray Felker of Joplin brothers, Dewayne Felker of Okeechobee, Fla., Allen Felker, Riverton, Kan., Jerry Felker and Bruce Felker, both of Joplin sisters, Betty McAdams of Webb City, Sandra Jamison and Mae Belle Williams both of Carl Junction grandchildren, Ashlea, Hailey, Andrew, Denny Jr. "Bubby", and Erin great-grandchildren, Carson and Anslea. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 20, 2005, at 10 a.m. in Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary today from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Victory Junction Gang care of Parker Mortuary.
