MARY MANK Obituary

Dr. Mary "Mickey" Mank, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers.
The daughter of the late LaManche and Frederick "Patrick" Sullivan, Mickey was a Georgia native raised in Kentucky. She married the late Judge Miles B. Mank II and raised three children in Vero Beach, Florida.
Mickey taught in Miami schools and universities for more than 25 years before retiring to Fort Myers Beach in 1994. She was an author of children's books, an accomplished painter and world traveler. Mickey loved the beach, Basset hounds, the "Big M", martinis and all-things Irish.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Dr. Dorothy "Dotty" Wessel and is survived by her daughter Carolyn Egana (John) and sons Miles and William Mank (Debra). Mickey is also survived by eight grandchildren: Mary Elizabeth Fletcher, Amy Objartel (Jason), Nikki Stadler (Ryan), James Egana, Carrie Horner (Mike), Brandon Mills (Jennifer), William Mank Jr. (Judith) and Lauren Mank. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren McKenzie Horner and Cole Mills, dear friends, Charlotte Jackson and Mary Lou Lisula and extended family throughout Georgia and Ireland.
A private memorial service will be held at Saint Columbkille Catholic Church in Fort Myers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to Hope Hospice or Suncoast Basset Rescue.

Aunt Mickey set an example of a life well lived. She was a woman ahead of her time. We will miss her great energy and fun stories, but most of all we will miss her. We will carry her memory in our hearts...

What a fun lady and an inspiration to all the girls in our family to get a good education, try new things, and to live life to the fullest. She was always looking forward to her next adventure. I'll miss you cousin Mickey. Rest in peace.
