Uncle Al always treated me with kindness. I specifically remember when he tried cheering me up at my mother's funeral. At the time, I didn't think much about it; but, as time has passed, I have realized that it's my favorite memory of him, because it demonstrates his caring spirit. When I told my dad who has advanced dementia about Al's death, Dad was immediately shocked and saddened. As my Aunt Sue has already mentioned, he was well-liked and respected in the Tabor family into which he married. He was an excellent son-in-law and treated my grandmother like a queen. We all loved him for that! I'm so sorry that I missed the opportunity to have one last conversation with him.

Al came into my life as a customer of music, and departed as a valued friend. He treated me as a family member, and his kindness and generosity will be remembered for all days. Al, I miss you already...thanks for being you.

Al was my stepfather since 1964. His passing seems like the end of an era. We have stayed in touch and became better friends as we matured. We both enjoyed jazz and having spirited debates on politics and current events. He tutored me through a chemistry class in high school. He bought me a baby red rose corsage for my 16th birthday. He looked sharp, walking me down the aisle in 1973. We took a driving tour of the UK as a family of 3 once and of Cape Cod in later years. He always welcomed me home, when dreams didn't work out. He took good care of my mother and was loyal through trying times. I will make a contribution to the Madison Jazz Society in his honor.

Al was a bright light in our family for so many years, since he became my brother-in-law in 1964. Everyone liked him. We were close and remained in touch. He is so missed and will always be in our thoughts.
