Robert Cunningham Obituary
GLADSTONE Robert Milton Cunningham, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010.
Born Sept. 4, 1923, he was a son of the late Rosser Allen and Lyle Megginson Cunningham. He was retired from the C&O Railroad and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Milton was respected in the community as a musician and entertainer and was known to have had many friends who often came to his home to play music.
He is survived by three nieces, Marjorie Newton and husband, Danny, of South Hill, Robbie Hamilton and husband, J. B., of Vancouver, Washington and Mary Ann Bryant and husband, Frankie, of Amherst; two nephews, Richard Haywood Porter and wife, Diane, of Macon, Ga., and Jackie Dee Cunningham and wife, Judy, of Forest; as well as many friends in the area.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Vera McCormick Cunningham; a sister, Cerise Wills; a niece, Virginia Mitchell; and two brothers, Rosser Haywood Cunningham and Johnny Cunningham.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at Driskill Funeral Chapel, Amherst, (434) 946-5529, with the Rev. Bill Evans officiating. A private burial will be in the Megginson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at Driskill Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gladstone Rescue Squad, 16 Old 13 Road, Gladstone, VA 24553.
