Annie Umbarger Obituary

Annie Marie Bowling Umbarger

Annie Marie Bowling Umbarger, 93, of Arrington Road, Arrington, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg.

She was born Jan. 15, 1917, in Nelson County, a daughter of the late Harry R. Bowling and Louise Stevens Bowling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. (Ump) Umbarger, a brother, H. David Bowling, and a son-in-law, Jerry Lee Saunders.

Annie was a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Arrington.

She is survived by three daughters, Virginia U. Brewer, of Charlottesville, Nancy U. Saunders, of Arrington, and Sarah U. Burnett, of Arrington; a son, Charles D. Umbarger, of Arrington; a brother, W. Steve Bowling, of Appomattox; a sister, Dorothy B. Giles, of Arrington; and nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today,

Nov. 14, 2010, at Woodland Baptist Church in Arrington, with the Rev. Greg McCormick officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall and suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions take the form of donations to Woodland Baptist Church, 4334 Thomas Nelson Highway, Arrington, VA 22922.
