MABEL BAYES Obituary
Mabel Gentry Bayes "Pudding" departed this life on August 13, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on July 28, 1941 to Gracie E. Gentry and the late Walter B. Gentry. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her brother, Woodrow W. Gentry and a nephew, Alvin Gentry.
In addition to her mother, Mabel is survived by her husband, Curtis Bayes; one daughter, Vanessa Bayes; one son, Vincent Bayes; one sister, Mary G. Cashwell; one brother-in-law, William E. Cashwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A funeral service will be held 2pm, Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Andrew B. Hill II, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends tonight, Monday, August 15, 2011 from 7-8pm at Community Funeral Home and other times at 131 Friendly Acres Lane, Monroe. The cortege will assemble at 131 Friendly Acres Lane. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected] Community Funeral Home directing

Nessa & Vinny, I still to this day know that Mabel is watching over you two with loving arms, I miss her so, as well as you do. She is praising the Lord now watching and waiting for us to join her! Jack and I are so very sorry to hear about the passing of Mabel. She was a wonderful, warm person, who had a smile for everyone. She was so very proud of both of you. Loved bowling with her, and seeing her at LGH, always made my day. She was such a comfort to Jack and I when Jack spent so much time in the hospital. She would stop by everyday to see him. Vince & Vanessa we are deeply saddened by the loss of Mabel (Ma) as I called her , she was one of a kind a wonderful mother ,friend, and always had that smile:). we loved her dearly and she will surely be missed. I use to tell Sarah that i was going to send her to Mabels (Ma) house to raise her, because she had done such a wonderful job with the two of you..She was a great lady in my book. I haven't seen Mabel in several years, but every time we did happen to run into each other, she was so kind and always wearing a smile. I know her son Vincent and saw him recently. Mabel was a very genuine and caring person and I enjoyed knowing and working with her. To all of her family, I know you will miss her, but know that this world is just our dress rehersal.
