Kanele Demestihas Kanele Demestihas, age 93, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at her home. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William and son, Nicholas K. Demestihas.

Loving mother of Katherine D. Kenyon and husband, Ken; mother-in-law of Christine D. Lyons; sister of Tula Zanias, Charles Krandal, Paul Kostulakos and wife Pauline, Peter Kostulakos and wife Angie; sister-in-law of Athena Vranas and grandmother (Yiayia) of William T. Demestihas and wife, Helen, Helena P.K. Atwood and husband Charles, Alex N. Demestihas and wife, Olga, Nicholas W. Kenyon, Kanella C.K. Thomas and husband Kevin; great Yiayia of Kenyon Atwood, Brandon Atwood, Alexis Demestihas and Katherine Atwood and many nieces and nephews.

She moved to Manassas 16 years ago and was active in her church and the Senior Center where she was a member of the Happy Hoofer dance group for many years.

Family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 10 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas. Funeral services will be offered 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 11, 2010 at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 36th St. and Massachusetts Ave., Washington D.C. Interment will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Nativity of Lord Orthodox Church, 8911 Weems Rd., Manassas, VA 20110 or Capital Hospice, 10530 Linden Lake Plz., #200, Manassas, VA 20109 in memory of Kanele Demestihas. Condolences may be sent to www.piercefh.com
