Tim Dooley Obituary

Published by News & Messenger on Nov. 13, 2010.
Tim Dooley Tim Dooley, age 46, died peacefully on November 8, 2010 at home with his family after a long battle with complications from Advanced Melanoma.

Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1964, Tim was a graduate of Southlake High School in St. Claire Shores, Michigan. He held various sales positions and pursued a love for fast cars. Tim received numerous accolades in a racing experience that started in "Super Street" class and ended by becoming a notable contender on the competitive "IHRA pro-stock" national circuit. In tribute to his competitive nature, Tim took-up organized arm wrestling during the late 80's and early 90's and rose to achieve the ranking of #3 in the world in the 197 lb weight-class.

In 2004, the Dooley family moved from Memphis, Tenn. to Northern Virginia, where Tim and Jeanine started a new chapter of their lives. Tim worked in the mortgage business and became one of the top sales representatives in his territory. Their daughter Kendall attended Battlefield High School where she became very involved with cheerleading while their son Collin attended Mountain View Elementary where he became a standout young athlete as the Dooley's became active members of the Haymarket/Gainesville community.

Tim devoted countless volunteer hours to youth baseball in the area and sincerely enjoyed being a character-building mentor to young athletes in the community. Many of these young people returned the favor with cards and letters of encouragement for Tim during his struggle with Melanoma Cancer.

Tim is also survived by his Father, Tim Sr. and Uncles Patrick and Terry Dooley.

A memorial service will be held at Park Valley Church in Haymarket on Sunday, November 14 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to www.marchonmelanoma.org refer to "the Dooley campaign" tab. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Woodbridge.

I didn't even know Tim, but my friend did, and he was on his baseball team. My friend said great things about Tim, and told me when he was diagnosed. RIP Tim, a great man.

Tim I didnt know you long but what a pleasure it was to have known you. It was such a joy to take care of your vehicles for you. I will never forget the opportunity I had to clean the race cars for you that was truly an honor. You were one of a kind and will be missed by many. To Jeanine my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this very difficult time. Tim Thanks for the great memories buddy.

Tim - You tackled life with passion and commitment for which I have always admired and respected. This is something that can't be taught but runs within your soul. You will be missed. We'll see you on the flip side my man.
