James NOONAN Obituary

NOONAN-James F. of East Quogue, age 71. September 3, 1942 to March 16, 2014. Having received the "Gift of Life" in July 2008 (double lung transplant), James (Jim) was restored to health and was able to lead a full life. However, in recent years, he developed cancer and underwent several chemotherapy treatments. Jim fought a long, courageous battle until finally "giving up the fight." A proud American and true hero. Jim spent over four years in the Navy and then joined the New York City Fire Department, attaining the rank of Captain. Highly decorated with numerous awards for bravery, he retired in 2000 with 34 years of service. After retirement, he aided in the post 9-11 recovery efforts. Famous for his Irish wit and sense of humor, Jim positively impacted on all with whom he came in contact. He was completely devoted to his family and friends and was also a "lover" of anything Irish, the Yankees and the beaches of the "Hamptons." Jm is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Maryann, and his four children: Kathleen, Kerry (Stephen), James (Mary), Maureen (Robert) and his brother John (Helen) as well as his 5 grandchildren: Peter Maxwell, Ella, Claire, and Kristen. He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and James; and three siblings: Margaret, Thomas, and Bernard. Arrangements by: R.J. O'Shea Funeral Home, 94 East Montauk Hwy, Hampton Bays, NY 11946 rjosheafuneralhome.com Visitation: Saturday, March 22 from 5-8 P.M. Sunday, March 23 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M.
