Grandma,
It has been over 12 years since your passing.
I miss your stories of a younger world. Of Knickerbocker Avenue. Of Bronto. Of laughs and tears of joy of a life well lived with family who loved you as much as you loved us all.
I miss your smiling eyes.
Love you.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to Pat's loving family. I have very fond memories of my cousin Frank and his lovely wife Pat, some together and some apart from each other. May they both rest in peace forever, together at last. Now they will both be looking down upon us with a loving smile.

Words seem so inadequate as I try to understand the loss of my dear mother-in-law. We shared countless laughs throughout the years, and I will fondly remember her quick wit and her ability to make me smile. She gave so selflessly to me and to many others, and I know she will missed by all that were touched by her kindness. To my darling wife and our family, my deepest and most heartfelt thoughts in this time of reflection and memory.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave
with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive
and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways...
Chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Beloved Sister-in-Law, Pat, Godmother of our daughter Cathy, you will be missed. We remember the many Barbershop Conventions over the years, traveling in the Volkswagon Bus with a well stocked refrigerator, the large family gatherings, Weddings, Christening's, Communions, weekends in Laurens with Aunt Kitty and Uncle Johnny, Cousins' reunions at Happy Brook and the many St. Patrick's Day celebrations we had together. We had lots of fun times.

Words seem inadequate when trying to describe how much I will miss my dearest mother-in-law. We shared many laughs together, and I have countless fond memories such that I become overwhelmed when thinking about her. I know that she will be missed by so many for she touched the lives of so many. I have been spoiled by her kindness for so many years, and I know that this kindness was just the tip of the iceberg. She meant so much to all of us and will be missed terribly. To my darling wife and family I send my deepest condolences.

Patricia Balantic was gently called home on April 15, 2011. Patricia was born on September 12, 1938 to Bill and Mary (Bredley) O’Reilly. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York and shared many fond memories of that tight community and her special friends. She graduated from Bushwick High School in 1956, and was shortly thereafter married to Frank Balantic. They settled in Commack, Long Island where they raised 4 children. Frank predeceased Patricia in 1993.
Patricia was the consummate Mom. She quickly learned the skills necessary for a city girl to survive in the suburbs. She earned her driver’s license at the age of 30 and shuttled kids to dance, soccer, baseball, scouts, horseback, kick-line, swimming lessons, and all manner of necessary youthful distraction. She was a den-mother, a CCD instructor, and the best class-mother that 15 different grammar school classes at Greenfields Elementary School could ever have. When her kids reached high school age, she took a job with Metropolitan Life as an Insurance Claim Adjustor. She spent over twenty years with the company and took great pride in her work.
Patricia fearlessly battled diabetes for over 35 years. She won.
Patricia loved serving in the ministries of Christ the King Church. She also served as Vice President of the Seniors Club and coordinated many successful and fun events. She particularly enjoyed every moment of her time working with the wonderful people at Outreach. She loved her colleagues and was passionately connected to her clients.
Patricia leaves behind a beloved sister, Maureen; 4 children: Frank W. Balantic (Lori), Kelly Balantic (Ron Michaels), James Balantic (Debbie), and Bridget Dehmler (Michael), her beautiful grandchildren Frank, Cathleen, Erinn, Erika, Anthony, Shayna, Will and Ben, and her dog Lizzie. She loved shopping for gifts for her family and the occasional trip to the casino. She would often remind her family to enjoy what they were doing while they were doing it, because all of a sudden the time is gone. She was right.
Calling hours Wednesday, April 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Commack Abbey; Mass on April 28 at 10 AM at Christ The King Church.
-I love you Mom
