Adolph SIEGEL Obituary

SIEGEL - Adolph of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of West Islip, NY, passed away peacefully onOctober 2, 2012. He was born in New York City in August, 1928, was raised in the Bronx, and graduated from James Monroe High School at the age of 15. Mr. Siegel graduated from New York University Stern School of Business in 1947 and the NYU Law School in 1949 at the age of 20. He passed the Bar Exam at the age of 21. Mr. Siegel married Beverly Goldenberg in December 1950, and shortly thereafter was drafted into the U.S. Army. In 1951, he was deployed to Korea and was assigned to the Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAGC). He was later promoted to Captain and re-assigned toJapan where his wife Beverly joined him in 1953. In 1954, after completion of his military service, Mr. and Mrs. Siegel relocated to Lindenhurst, New York where he opened his own LawOffice and they welcomed their daughter, Michelle. In 1958 their son William wa born. Mr.Siegel's practice focused on Real Estate, Construction, and Zoning matters. He represented some of the largest developers in the history of Long Island, Land Title Insurance Companies, local small businesses, as well as families, and he quickly became one of the most respected attorneys in the region for the next 50 years. Mr. Siegel was a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association (SCBA) for nearly 50 years; he served on the Board of Directors for the SCBA, and for many years he was the Chairman of the Real Property Committee of the SCBA. Mr. Siegel successfully argued cases before the New York State Supreme Court, New York State Appellate Division Second Department, and the New York State Court of Appeals. One of his greatest accomplishments was drafting an act to amend the Real Property Law in New York State which was signed into law by then Governor Mario Cuomo in 1991. Mr. Siegel was an avid golfer and was a long time member of th Island Hills Golf Club in Sayville. He also enjoyed playing tennis and bridge with his wife and loved to travel and spend time with his grandchildren. Mr. Siegel was pre-deceased by his wife, Beverly. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law,Michelle and Joe Bodnar of Sarasota, FL, son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Susan Siegel of Hampton Bays, NY, granddaughters Jennifer and Sharon Siegel, and grandson Jared Bodnar.
